The New and Improved Year

2008 is going to one amazing year. I am really excited about the projects I have going on right now.
The major project is of course the leather handbags. I have set a deadline of the end of Feb to launch my first style. So all systems are go at the moment.

The plan is ..

1. secure production - this is causing me a lot of angst at the moment. Do you know how hard it is to find someone fabulous to make handbags for you. Hard!

2. develop graphics - I have an amazing friend in Sydney that I'm hoping will help me out here but basically what I need to secure is: a name, logo, website, blog, promotional postcards, graphic identity

3. administration - I need to secure a webhosting, paypal, forms and procedures and probably a million other things I can't quite work out right now.

Anyway I'm really excited to hold tight and watch this space!

One idea is never enough!

Yesterday ended up being a really exciting day for Planet Juliet as I received the very first samples of leather for an upcoming (hopefully) handbag line created in response to all those girls out there that are on the hunt for the perfect handbag, on the hunt for the next handbag, or on the hunt for a leather handbag with minimal environmental damage and a sustainability ethos to boot!

Everything is still very much in the early stages of planning - I should be writing the business plan as I speak but instead tapping away here to you (where ever you are!)

Last night was very exciting. I sat down with all of the colour swatches (discretely taken from the paint displays at the local hardware) and the leather swatches supplied by the lovely people who do such things and worked out 'what I'm feeling' for the coming seasons.

Let me know what you think about handbags and colours - actaully anything you want to let me know about you can!

Honesty is the best policy

An honesty moment ..

I haven't been into Meet Me At Mikes' to check out whether my cards and envelopes have been sold :(

And I thought I would be alot more proactive on this blog than I have been

Oh What a Week!

Sorry I haven't posted anything all week but I have alot to report!

Firstly I have been playing around with some vintage wallpaper I had lying around at home and created some envelope and card sets.

I think they are cute as a button so I took a stroll over to my local crafty kooky store (aka Meet me at Mikes) and asked if they would be interested in stocking it. And guess what - they said yes! I was totally over the moon! Until I realised that I had just taken an order for 5 sets of envelope and cards (6 in each) but I had no idea how much wallpaper I really had left. Anyway turns out I didn't have as much wallpaper as I would have liked, so a quick redesign of the envelope, and we were away.

This morning I have finished all 5 sets, they are all drying as I speak. So I will wonder over to Meet me at Mikes to drop them off this afternoon. I hope they sell over the weekend.

Meet me at Mikes' also has a blog - if you have a moment you should check it out, the link is under the Friends group on the right hand side.

Wheels in Motion

Today I have completed two essential elements to my new business.
Firstly, I have created a logo and supporting illustration to load onto this blog, my etsy site and to be used for all letter heads etc.
Secondly, I have an ABN!!

School's Out ..

So my very own blog.
I've decided to start this blog as a means to motivate myself to get Planet Juliet and all my ideas out of my head and into the world.
As the subject indicates school is out - i finished the first semester of my master's last monday (YAY!) and I have felt like since I have been bombarded with questions about my future. Yes mainly from my overly concerned parents, but I think they may have a point!
I could spend the summer reading countless books about how green is the new black and return to university in march broke or I could actually do something with my time and hopefully make a few pennies in the meanwhile!
It has also occurred to me that, like in most circumstances, I am not the first nor the last person to attempt to go alone and materialise their ideas - so why not document it as I go! So here you have it, the first day of Planet Juliet officially documented thanks to the miracles that is Google!
